are priorities of the health sector. The goal is reducing crude
Birth Rate (CBR), Infant Mortality Rate (IMR), Crude Mortality
Rate (CMR), and Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) in conformity with
international targets. As neo-notal deaths account for nearly
fifty percent of IMR, the state government is giving the highest
priority to reducing the causes of neo-deaths like asphyxia,
hypothermia and neonatal infections in collaboration with National
Neo-Natalogy Forum and ensuring ante, peri and post natal
checkups
through innovative schemes with assistance from donor partners.
The goal is also to eradicate or eliminate some diseases like
leprosy, polio and control other endemic diseases to reasonable
levels. The government is equally concerned to ensure quality
services at the secondary and tertiary levels. |
